两位生活在正在进行迁都计划的巴鲁海特帝国的青年——努力从事运输工作有点胆小的伊努玛尔，帝国的新手士兵不懂人情世故的雷欧卡迪欧。一人想着重要的妹妹，一人想着作为士兵的前途，就这样在帝都生活着的日常。与此同时，过去将世界大多数生物消灭、给世界带来凶暴魔物的灾祸“光”将再度降临的预言出现在帝国中，帝国上下人心惶惶。在此之中，以某次密输事件为契机，伊努玛尔与雷欧卡迪欧的命运，以及帝国的历史都将发生激变。

ホラーコミック誌「ハロウィン」「サスペリア」などに連載された永久保貴一の作品が原作。迦楼羅（かるら）神教三十八代目教主である双子の姉妹、扇翔子と舞子が、日本各地で起こる心霊事件に挑むサイキックホラーだ。1989年の劇場版『奈良怨霊絵巻』に続くアニメ化で、1990～91にかけてビデオ全6巻（LD版は全3巻）がリリースされた。 仙台で修学旅行生や旅人が次々と変死する事件が発生。修学旅行に来ていた翔子と鳴子の同級生も犠牲になってしまう。調査を開始した2人は、神社の巫女である巨椋魅冬が行う「小芥子の呪い」が、事件に関わっていることを突き止めるが……。
